Before & After School Programs

Scott school is home to two onsite programs to address after-school childcare needs: YMCA and SUN.

YMCA provides before and after-care.

  • Programming times are from 6:30 AM until school starts and from school release until 6:00 PM weekdays. More information can be found on the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette webpage, by calling 503.327.0007, or by emailing

SUN is an enrichment program after school.

  • SUN stands for Schools Uniting Neighborhoods. SUN Community Schools are the school-based delivery sites for a comprehensive set of services including educational, enrichment, recreational, social and health services. This nationally recognized system of care works to ensure families are healthy so they can champion and support their children. The SUN Service System collaboration is managed by Multnomah County and the Scott site is funded by 21st Century Community Learning Centers and delivered by Impact NW www.impactnw.orgSUN Community Schools are not a program, but rather a place and support hub where schools and communities work together to support the success of children and families and provide a comprehensive array of services. They serve as the vehicle to link a school with community institutions, such as libraries, parks, community centers, neighborhood health clinics and area churches and businesses.

One way in which SUN supports the community is through after-school enrichment activities. There are three sessions or terms of classes during the school year, and you must sign up in advance for your child to attend. Sign-ups are first-come, first-serve, and can fill up quickly. EARLY SIGN-UP IS RECOMMENDED TO ENSURE YOU GET THE PROGRAMS YOU WANT FOR YOUR CHILD.

SUN also is an important connection to available community resources. Ask the SUN coordinator for assistance in identifying community resources such as parenting programs, rental or utility assistance, food boxes, and more.
